Mick Cawston ( - 2006)
Mick Cawston was discovered by Sally Mitchell when he was a struggling young artist and worked with him to publish prints and promote his paintings in England and abroad for twenty years. His death at an early age was a great loss to all who knew him and to the world of English country art
Mick Cawston was one of the world's finest dog and wildlife painters. He had a most amazing relationship with the countryside and its people and they had a great love and admiration for him
His work is comparable to that of John Emms or Maude Earl and he worked equally well in oils, watercolours or pastels. No matter what subject he painted, the character and likeness was always superb
Many of his works have been reproduced as limited edition prints by Sally Mitchell Fine Arts. He was a finalist 5 times, in the Fine Art Trade Guild survey for the top selling artist of the year, winning it in 1998 and being runner up shortly before his untimely death in 2006
