Gordon King (b1939)
Gordon King was born in 1939 and was destined to become an artist after winning several art competitions from the age of seven. Having moved from Fife, he concentrated on figurative illustration and trained at Carlton Studios in London whilst studying life drawing and painting at Reading University
In his early 20's Gordon illustrated for magazines and advertising agencies whilst improving his technique on portraits and exhibiting his work until in the mid 70's when he concentrated full-time on his paintings being predominantly in oils. Showing work at the Royal Academy in London and later at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours
His paintings of young models soon became his trade mark and exhibitions of his work have been staged around the world and many major Art Galleries and collections includes examples of his work.
