Born in Sheffield, John was always interested in painting and started to paint portraits, landscapes and seascapes. Struggling to earn a living, he returned to his home town of Grimsby where he took a position as a fork lift truck driver and continued to paint in his spare time until his work became noticed and he is now one of the country's leading animal painters

His paintings of black Labradors were once described by the Shooting Times as some of the finest in the world. His time spent studying scenery coupled with his natural self taught ability to paint allows him to create the most realistic landscapes, country sports and wildlife paintings

John’s paintings hang in houses all over the world and he continues to be one of the greatest dog painters of our time
